Six dead after gunbattle with Marines
BAGHDAD, Iraq A gunfight between U-S Marines and suspected insurgents killed six Iraqis, including at least one child.
According to the American military, coalition forces were patrolling an area west of Baghdad when they found a roadside bomb. As they worked to remove it, shots were fired at the Marines. They responded with tanks and machine guns aimed at a house where the suspects were on the roof.Six bodies were later found inside, including an infant girl and four other females. Locals tell the military that the building was a known safe house for anti-Iraqi forces.No Marines or other coalition troops were hurt.
