NEW YORK (April 4, 2005) -- The Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation held their 10th annual Semper Fidelis Gala at the Plaza Hotel here April 1.
The festivity was held in honor of Vice President of the United States Richard B. Cheney, who received the Captain Alfred Lerner Memorial Globe and Anchor Award. Fox News Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Roger Ailes also received the Johnny Michael Spann Memorial Semper Fidelis Award and Park B. Smith Inc. CEO Park B. Smith was presented with the Commandant’s Leadership Award.
33rd Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. Michael W. Hagee attended the event as a special military guest, but he wasn't the only Marine Corps general officer there. The gathering marked the first time five Marine four stars were ever assembled at the same place, said Maj. Jason Johnston, public affairs officer for the commandant. The other generals in attendance were Gen. James Cartwright, commander, U.S. Strategic Command; Gen. Peter Pace, vice-chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Gen. William Nyland, assistant commandant of the Marine Corps; and Gen. James Jones, supreme allied commander, Europe.
