I recently went to MEPS and failed my hearing exam. I barely missed passing. My left ear at 3000 Frequency is 10 Dbs too low. I was wondering if any of you guys know anything about such waivers, and might have an idea of my chances of getting one.

Thanks

Do a search. There is a guy here that has been fighting to get a waiver for his hearing for quite some time. I think his hearing is worse than yours though. Regardless, everything you could ever want to know about it has been covered.

Your recruiter would be the person to talk to about this.

This requires a BuMed waiver (or did about 15 years ago). They take a while and you never know how they will come back. I sent one out (again 15 years ago) for failing the hearing test and it was denied, the reasoning at that time is that you can get a disability percentage from this condition.

You can still give it a shot, it won't cost you anything, maybe times have changed.
