google'd "Army Iraq Thanksgiving" and "Marines Iraq Thanksgiving".

I'm pretty sure all the Army pics were indoors and all the Marine pics were outdoors. I don't want to be called out if anyone finds a Marine inside on like the 6th page, so I won't say they were all like this.

Are you kidding?

The Army guy chomping down at some leg-like thing in a chow hall on Thanksgiving and the Marines eating outside in the freezing cold? You see the pictures, right?

Trust me, there are plenty of Marines sitting in chow halls and plenty of Army guys outside. It just happens to be the pictures you found didn't work out that way.

I know corporal, I just couldn't resist....after seeing those Army nasties SITTING DOWN DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM IN UNIFORM DURING A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL GAME, I....man I feel better than them just as a civilian simply because I STOOD UP, let alone being a Marine poolee. It's not a hatred thing for them, definitely. I have mad respect for our soldiers. It's just....how could you be that bad?

Achped, look in the back left of the Army picture and tell me those ain't Marine Cammies. I'm just happy they're getting some good food even without their loved ones.

That leg-like thing is a crab leg and yes they were tasty.

You really cannot assume too much from just one set of pictures. Most all Marines in the front over there get the chance to spend some R&R time at a real base like Al Asad or Camp Faluja every once and a while. Even some of the smaller bases like Korean Village are having these huge chowhalls erected and they're all staffed by these happy civilians and there's oldies music playing throughout the hall and you roll up there and have yourself a greedy meal. Make sure you shave first though. You don't want to set your tray down, grab your fork only to be chewed out by some crusty Gunny for five minutes as you stare at the best meal you've seen in a month.

My company would send a section back to KV every month or so for a bit of maintenance on our LAVs and R&R. You'd get there, get whatever word your platoon commander had for you and then make a b-line for the chowhall.

So that could just as well been me in the chowhall pic but in no way would it be indicative of how we were living. No complaints though. Give me the right MRE and i'll make you a birthday cake!

A hot and a cot are two things I personally would never question to anybody, regardless of branch of service, who is putting their butt on the line for my freedoms. I can understand, to an extent, what you meant by the picture, but in this situation this soldier has earned the right to eat whatever he wants and however much he wants.

I remember that place, although I was there in 2005. That's the DFAC in Al Asad.

Matt.....sigh.......for someone that has had such a TOUGH YEAR in the Corps, you sure seem to have a lot of time on your hands, if this is all you do! But do you know the Ironic thing about all this crap? I'll bet that out of that group of Marines, in that picture, only 10% would trade duty for duty (MOS and all) with you, and you are in Hawaii!

You are probably (most likely) a very good Marine and my younger brother, and that gives you the right to give your opinion about this HEAR SAY evidence that the Army is better treated! We all know you can talk the talk, L/Cpl, but those guys are walking the walk as we speak! What those guys (Marine and Army) would say to you is, "Walk a mile in my boots, Marine"!

This "I have a friend that said", and the "I found on Google" is HEAR SAY! Be a Marine Matt, think before you post..........but then we've been telling you this for over a year now, haven't we?

Look, I know you mean well with this stuff you post,, but pleeeeease, think Marine!

Semper Fi L/Cpl, keep your head down......oh wait, you're in Hawaii! :marine:

Jesus Christ!!!

Achped had a big ole' swole ego even while he was just a poolee? That alone explains the way he acts now (on this forum at least).

A poolee that think he's better than men serving in Iraq, simply because they're serving a different branch...wow.

Thought I would clear up some things about the photo of the crab leg:

It was taken in the FOB Ramadi chow hall on Thanksgiving 2004.
The captain in the photo was in 2/2ID, which was attached to the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions (because those divisions only had 7 month tours, while the Army tour was 12 months).
FOB Ramadi and by extension the chow hall, being in Al Anbar, of course fell under the Marines.
Yes, those are Marine uniforms in the background.
There is no such thing as an officer's mess in the Army (maybe there is in the Marines, I don't know). Officers and enlisted eat in the same place.
Other Soldiers in this unit who were not lucky enough to eat in the chow hall that day got food trucked out to them for the holiday, of course at great risk to the Soldiers who braved the IED-heavy roads to get it to them. It is an Army tradition to get hot, good meals to all Soldiers everywhere, when possible.
This officer's battalion suffered 14 KIA during the one year tour; the brigade lost 68; and if you count the Marines from the Infantry battalions that were attached to this Army brigade, it goes up into the 80's.
These Soldiers and Marines spilled their blood together, and when they were dieing, likely didn't give a rip about the Army/Marine rivalry.

I know this because I was there, and I was the one who took the picture. It was a good day, though several of our comrades were not there to enjoy it.

You know what Marine, this is twice you've called me out with no instigation from me at all in the POOLEE forum.

I'm going to break it down barney style for you. Sit down behind your computer, and google:

A.) The Marine Corps Rank Structure
B.) Private Messaging
and
C.) Professionalism

When you get that **** straightened out, then you can talk to me man to man. Until then, you can just keep looking like an idiot, whining about posts I made 2 years ago, while I get **** done in Iraq. 'Rah?

Pretty sure I posted that many many months ago, when you were still a whinny little *****/LCpl (or maybe a PFC) who did nothing but complain about how much the Marine Corps sucks and give terrible advice to try to demotivate Poolees.

Sure, go ahead and private message me about how much you're doing in Iraq, I'm really interested to hear your war stories.

Look. I don't want to get in a ****ing match with you too, but.....this is the poolee hall where we most importantly have to show our professionalism of being Marines. Corporal Achped made it very clear. I don't appreciate seeing a friend, Iraq vet, and NCO mocked, which is how I took this last post. You are pretty cocky and I feel you are jealous of Corporal Achped. Last I checked, you are a boot POG who really has no where to talk to a Marine NCO like that. I personally take it offensively. :flag:

Being called a "boot POG" by someone who has been in for less time than me, to defend someone who has been in for less time than me and is also a POG...

Do you know the definition of ironic?

Wait, it doesn't matter. I have no problems with who I am. I might be a "boot POG" but I'm the best Super POG you've ever spoken to!

Now like I said, I made that post 4 or 5 months ago. Rank meant nothing, since he didn't out rank me 4 or 5 months ago. I'm not going to apologize for something I said (with good reason I might add) about a poolee 5 months ago! And if you think that means "jealousy" then I guess there's one more word you need to define.

Went on a JTF mission once and the AF fed us in the field. We had steak, lobster and crab legs all you could eat. I'll bet I drank a gallon of orange juice that day. Nother time we celebrated the MC birthday in the field and had a cake the same size as the hood of a jeep brought out to us. Everybody got one can of beer and a slice of cake.

Shirty go take your meds then beat off on another website. We don't need you hanging around here.
