CURTIS, LLOYD DUANE L. Duane Curtis, 73, of Temecula loved to spend warm sunny days on the beach in Baja California with his dog Gigi. He died there on November 11th, a victim of an assault and robbery. Duane was born to Marian and Lloyd Curtis September 11, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Duane later worked in the communications field as an engineer and project manager. This took him to many parts of the world, including Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He quickly became an accomplished world traveler, and he discovered more than a few spots of paradise in very remote locations. One of his favorite places was his beach house in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Duane encouraged his children and relatives to share in these travel adventures with him, and had buckets of stories and tales to tell. He made many lifelong friends nearly the world over, and could always be counted on for a wry joke and a double drink. Family who miss him dearly include his wife Margaret; his son Daniel; daughters Lisa Minerd and Linda Carlson; sons-in-law Rick Minerd and Jeremy Carlson; grandsons Curt Minerd, Christopher and Michael Carlson; and many, many relatives and friends who knew him as a true friend and champion. Services will be held at El Camino Memorial Chapel in Sorrento Valley Sunday November 19, 2006 at 12:00. Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
