Corps to issue sweat-wicking shirts

By John Hoellwarth
Staff writer

The Corps will make a change to the gear Marines are issued in boot camp by Dec. 1, when all recruits will begin receiving sweat-wicking green undershirts made of synthetic material, according to the head of the Marine Corps Uniform Board.

Mary Boyt said three of the six green cotton shirts currently in recruits’ initial issue will be replaced by the new synthetic shirts.

Though the shirts are authorized for wear, they are not yet required or issued. But that will change soon, according to Boyt.

Boyt said she expects the Corps-wide message making the new shirts mandatory for the total force to be published “some time in the near future.”
