there was no 1st FSR in 1956 thru 1958 it became 1st FSR in 1959.
Prior to that it was 1st Combat Service Group .
Motor transport Maint,Co, was in the 13 area motor pool with truck co and we all lived in Barracks 1223 across the road (RattleSnake Canyon Road)
I was there from June of 56 through may of 59
It changed names in jan.59 to Motor Transport Maintenance Co First Force Servise Regement

The Maint Co. Comander was Capt Nick Hurley
There was a Sgt Vernon Roach
Sgt E.H Bynum
Tsgt Cable (also known as the white rat)
Also a Sgt Webber who in 1957 got his self killed on the
Bridge comming back to the base.
I cant remember everybody but I just returned from visiting with Bynum in Mason Texas.
any more question ask me and I will get answers

You are correct, it was the 1st Combat Service Group when I first came to 29 palms in 1956, however, & I had to check some of my old papers to be sure, it became 1st FSR early in 1958, I was promoted to corporal May 1st 1958 & at that time the papers indicate I was a member of
Maint. Co. Det. First Force Service Regiment FMFPac 29 palms[quote]

I didnt read your post correctly, I didnt see the DET. part.
I was in maint co.at Pendleton while you were detached at the Stumps,

I was kinda looking back in time to see if we knew each other as we were in the same Company,But thats life in the fast lane.

Mabe theres someone else out from the same units and time period, would be nice to know.
