Hey, just wanted to update my wussy scores from three weeks ago. I DEP'd in exactly three weeks ago, and here is what I was able to do then.

Situps - 50 in 2 minutes
Pullups - 3
Runtime - Barely got 100 yards, no time.

Now:

Situps - 75 in 2 minutes
Pullups - 5
Runtime - 1.5 miles in 13 minutes, 18 seconds

Not stellar on anything, I know, but a hell of an improvement in 3 weeks. I still need some guidance on pullups, as I have hit a wall. Thanks for the moto, Marines.

You would be surprised. I started out at 6 pullups, 37 situps, and 15:40 run time, in 2 months I was up to 10 pullups, 156 situps, and 11:10 run time.

Just keep working at it.

The pullups...well they vary. Some like to go to muscle failure, some (like Accord) do many many many reps, but never to failure.

Good solid improvement just keep that up at a steady pace and by the time you ship you will be good to go. Keep getting advice from the other Poolees here some have amazed me with their improvement.

When I first started I got 10 pull-ups, 47 sit-ups, and ran 11.20. Now I can get 15 pull-ups, 67 sit-ups, and run 11.15. Just keep pushing yourself to do better and you will get there! Just make sure you past your IST, then try to improve on everything else. It is really amazing to see how people go from not qualifing then in a month or two qualifing and still giving some! Keep up the Good work!

Wow old post...I was so confused. I was like "Why is he saying he just became a poolee 3 weeks ago if he just got changed to status Marine." Then I looked at the date...Thanks for confusing me lol

I started out in the DEP with: 1 pull up, 75 crunches in 2 minutes, and 12:00 runtime. I weighed about 203

7 monthes in the DEP: 12 pull ups, 115 crunches, and 10:37 runtime.
I now weigh 187

All I can say is set a goal for yourself. I set a goal to gain at least 2 pull ups a month and get my run time down. There is no trick to doing the except just doing the work. I also have a recruiter who constantly stresses improvement.

I started going to poole functions at the end of my sophmore year. I did only 3 pull ups, 70 crunches, and the 1.5 mile in about 16 minutes. I threw up the first few poole functions and weighed about 190 lbs. I then got a pull up bar at my house, started running a few times a week, and started doing crunches at my house. Im now in my senior year of hs and get about 27 pull ups, more than enough crunches, and a 10:30 run time for ist, and am 35 lbs lighter. Now i know i had a lot more time then most going to poole functions for almost 2 years, but it just shows what enough motivation and dedication can do for any poolees out there that aren't as fast or strong.
I cannot wait til June 4 to finally get to Boot Camp.
And for those that aren't that great physically, it takes time and motivation but is definately achievable if you want it bad enough.
