Pior to Vietnam in 1965, I was a member of 2nd Platoon Bravo Company 3rd Recon Bn.
I found several old photos that I had developed on K-Bay.
This photo is the best of those photos.

As I state on that page, I've forgotten several first names, so I omitted all except my Platoon Commander 1st Lt. Frank Stanley Reasoner MOH recipent in Vietnam.
3rd Recon Base of Operations in Danang was named after him.
Camp Reasoner.
No greater love has a man,
Than one that lays his life down for another.

The smiley is wear shades because I was a "Hollywood Marine"

Cpl. Woodcock was on the same draft (MSTS Breckenridge) to Hawaii with me. I was in A co 1st Tracs just down the street from you. He"s the type of Marine you never forget.

Rotated back 1 Feb 65. Missed the mount out. The 2nd plt was the lost plt on "Starlight".

Cpl George Woodcock from Louisiana was that.
Before enlisting in the Marine Corps, was in Army Airborne.
After rotating back in June of 1965 because my tour in Hawaii had come to end.
I learn that Cpl George Woodcock had gotten married.
I thought to myself, she must be quite a beauty to get him to the altar.
In "The Saddiest Day of My Life" Cpl Woodcock was the coxian that hit poor Pfc John Raymond on the head after he said that he lost his paddle.
Here again I meet someone that was in the same place but our paths never met.
As far as I'm able tell, just three out of the 2nd platoon of Bravo Recon were killed in action in Vietnam.
But some might have been transfered to other recon companies or line companies as I had on Okinawa.
When most line companies found themselves short of NCO's.
Infantry rates in killed in action was 10% or 1 in 10, Recon rates were 40% or 1 in 4.
Maybe that why I was able to survive that hell known as Vietnam.
Thanks for the information.

I meant the 2nd plt of A co 1st tracs "Column 21"18 aug 65. The last thing I ever heard about him is he was NCOIC of one of the Soviet bloc embassies.

Did you ever run across Art Torizzio? He was best man at my wedding in 1974.
