Officer dies in fall from roof in Iraq

Details have emerged about the Nov. 4 death of a 2nd Marine Division officer in a nonhostile incident in Iraq’s Anbar province, according to a Nov. 9 Associated Press report.
Second Lt. Mark C. Gelina, 33, of Moberly, Mo., died when he fell from a roof while directing the placement of a gun, Capt. John Basil Read III, who taught Gelina at the University of Missouri-Columbia and is the university’s Naval ROTC commanding officer, told the Columbia Daily Tribune.
Gelina was with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.
Division officials said the incident is under investigation.
