Sergeants major named to new positions

By John Hoellwarth
Staff writer

Four sergeants major have been tapped by Marine Corps headquarters for duty as the senior enlisted Marine at some of the service’s largest commands, according to a Corps-wide message signed Oct. 19.

• Sgt. Maj. Bradley Ashley, currently assigned to 24th Marines, will stay on the Reserve side of the house, becoming the senior enlisted Marine for the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing in New Orleans.

• Sgt. Maj. Daniel Terwilliger will leave Marine Aircraft Group 31 in Beaufort, S.C., to become the sergeant major of Training and Education Command in Quantico, Va.

• Sgt. Maj. Alexander Williams will stay at Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., but he’ll trade his billet at the Recruit Training Regiment to become the top enlisted Marine for the entire depot, as well as Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s eastern region.

• Sgt. Maj. Louis Espinal isn’t changing duty stations, either. But he is leaving Marine Tactical Air Control Squadron 38 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., to become the sergeant major of the entire air station.

It remains unclear exactly when each Marine will begin his new duties.
