A RE-1A code is a must. The max age to get in is 29, so what you is subtract your active duty years from your current age, if it's 29 or less, then your good to come back in. You would be considered 39, sorry! Once a Marine, Alway's a Marine!!!

Get in touch with a Prior Service Recruiter. You'll need a two waivers. One waiver for your age (you're 2 years over the max) and one waiver for separation over three years. Good luck and Semper Fi!

I guess I can get back in with three waivers. The first for being out more then three years. The second for my age (43) and the third for having more then four Tats. I have seven, but six of them I got in the Corps. My package will be sent to HQMC on Monday. Thanks for the help everyone......

You need to contact your local recruiter and find out what the requirements are for prior service enlistments.
The Marine Corps cutoff of 29 is if you have to go to Recruit Training and that is waiverable. Prior Service Quotas use different criteria. Can you run a 1st Class PFT? That will be a must at your age. From there, depends on the needs of the Marine Corps. They also look at the fact that most of your peers will be GySgts and above and you will be much lower in Rank if they even have space or you otherwise meet the requirements.
I wouldn't hold out too much hope based on your age but God Bless and good luck.

How about a former Marine who has an RE code of 3-p. I never wanted to get out of the corps, and am trying everything I can to get back in. I tried to talk to a prior service recruter in KC, but they never got back to me. I will do a hundred pft's to show that I am physically fit to re enter. can anyone help me?

Scroll down and look in the "Ask a Marine" forum. This topic has been covered in the past.

:marine: i tried to contact my prior service recruter but they didnt return my call. I do remember somebody telling me that there would be no way that i would be able to get back in because of my re code. thats why i was posting that statement, so i could get a second opinion.

This thread reminds me of a story from 1970. I had a 92 yr. old neighbor who had served in the Marine Corps in WW I . Don't remember his name. He and I were on his porch one day, talking about Vietnam. He excused himself for a moment and went in the house. He came back outside wearing his WW I tunic and campaign cover. He told me if he still had his '03 Springfield, he'd ship out to Nam without hesitation. I remember laughing, but tears were welling up in my eyes at the same time.
ONCE A MARINE....ALWAYS A MARINE!
