It was a day for farewells, and a time for the waiting to end.
Marine Pfc. Michael Tabora sat on the asphalt of the parade ground at Camp Pendleton yesterday, leaning against his pack, ready.
"I'm just hoping we do our duty right and come back safely," said Tabora, an infantryman from Watsonville, who has been a Marine for eight months.
