Final confusion about job..

I got the impression that you choose your ideal jobs, but your not guaranteed it. I've been under the impression though, that you basically get what field you choose. Like say you wanted 0311, you aren't guaranteed that, but you'll get something in 03xx. I went Supply and Accounting. I know when it comes down to it, I don't get a say, but I know a lot of people who have gone in and either got what they wanted or something close to it. Sorry about posting this. I didn't know a good way to search this. We can make this one end fast though.

You can get a MOS field in your contract, but not a MOS. (In almost all cases that is how it is. There is a recon contract currently, but that is a horse of a different color.)

Ya I'm trying to figure out how to word this question. Since your not guaranteed your actual job...such as 0311. Our you almost nearly positive to get your field tho...such as 03xx?

Yes you can get a gaurenteed MOS field such as 03XX.

Yes, you are guaranteed the field (unless they're doing this differently now - which they could be OR unless you go in open contract where the Corps puts you where they want you). Mine was Ordnance (6500) - it breaks down into different jobs, for instance: 6541 - works on the racks that hold the bomb on the bird, 6521 (or 31s) - builds the bomb, 6531 (or 21s) - loads the bomb and EOD (don't know this 65#) - disarms the bomb. You'll have some sort of job pertaining to whatever field you go into.

When I was in SOI, they basically went down the line...ie...(10) 0311, (1) 0331, (1) 0341, (1) 0351...then repeated it until every Weapons spot was filled...then just made all that were left 0311's.
