After Boot ?

What do you recive after boot ? As far as like a Face book or Certificates.

Do you take home your field gear ?

All I received after Boot Camp graduation was a free mandatory one-way non-stop Cattle-Car ride from MCRD San Diego to Camp San Onofre (AKA Tent Camp 2) at Pendleton.......

And then the fun really began....

Further on my rather snide original answer....

Keep in mind this was 49 years ago...!!!

In addition to the Cattle-Car trip, all we took with us from Boot Camp was our original 'Sea-Bag' (standard uniform issue), field jackets (considered 'Unit Property' and not part of 'Sea Bag'), and last, BUT NOT LEAST, our Boot-Camp-issued Rifles, which in the case of my platoon were brand new M1 Garands, in my humble opinion the best military rifle since Adam and Eve....!!!

At the completion of the one-month ITR at Pendleton we got our first leave since the start of Boot Camp. We had to turn-in rifles and field jackets prior to leave. We did get two weekend liberties while at ITR...

Your 782 gear you will turn in before you graduate. There is an opportunity to purchase a year book and pictures that will be mailed to your address of chose. YOu will keep your uniforms and have an opportunity to purchase more if you wish, but remember you are limited on space.

Remember, everything you buy has to go home with you and then back to MCT/SOI unless you plan on leaving it at home. The more you have to carry the worse off you'll be. Order the yearbook, let your mom keep it for you, and forget about everything else.
