2 Louisiana Marines die in Iraq

SHREVEPORT - Two U.S. Marines from northern Louisiana have been killed in Iraq, their families said.
Lance Cpl. John Edward Hale of Shreveport, who was in Iraq for three months, died Friday when a roadside bomb detonated near his patrol in the Anbar Province.
Early Tuesday, the family of Marine Lance Cpl. Jon Eric Bowman of Summerfield learned he also had been killed by a roadside bomb.
"They told us he had been manning a .50 caliber machine gun in a Humvee when it was hit," said Jill Puckett, Bowman's mother.
"They said his body is in Germany right now. When he gets home, we'll make funeral plans."
Funeral arrangements for Hale are pending the return of his remains to the U.S., which could take two weeks, the family said.
