Hi. My name is Ashley, and I am interested in joining the Marines. Yes, right now i am only 14, but I am in AFJROTC because our school does not offer a USMC program. But, I was wondering if women were aloud to do silent drill for the Marines? Everytime I see something about it, It happens to be all men. Is that a coinsidence, or are women excluded from this?

That's a good question - probably another thing that women aren't allowed to do in the Corps - don't see why not though. Where's 8th&1 at?

Marine84, I am shocked that you don't know where 8th&I is at. It is in Washington DC at the intersection of 8th and I streets, hence it's name. Since it is HQMC I have visited there when visiting Washington DC and surrounding areas...

Negative. The Silent Drill Team is composed entirely of male Marines selected for specific body compositions and abilities, all from the 03xx OccField (Infantry).

Camper (iggyboop) - I know where 8th & 1 is - there's some guy on here that calls himself 8th&1 something or other (but my only remaining brain cell is fighting with me today) and I couldn't remember his name - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Nah, I know where it is cause I went there a few years ago for a reunion.

Thanks Livinsofree - I figured as much. Our boobs would probably get in the way of all that rifle tossing anyway.................;)

I don't think it's the boobs so much as the having to be "silent" LOL

I could be silent but, if I do, ya'll wouldn't have nothing to laugh at. Or anybody to fight with...............blah, blah, blah.......................

Washington DC, Eighth and I has different locations, per say. North West 8th and I Street is different than North East. My buddy in Quantico said he went to the other 8th and I and was confused because there's just a big parking lot.

I later found the right one, and it was very cool. The Corporal of the Guard at Marine Barracks made go get a high and tight before he would talk to me further!
