More Camp Lejeune troops received deployment orders Wednesday as others packed their bags, cleaned out offices and climbed aboard a helicopter bound for ships that will take them to the Middle East.
Elements of the 2nd Force Service Support Group received a deployment order, but information about how many would leave and where they would be going would not be available until today, Camp Lejeune spokesman Staff Sgt. Jay Connolly said.
And more forces are expected to leave soon, said Brig Gen. Richard F. Natonski, commander of the 7,000-member 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade that left Wednesday. He was joined by Rear Adm. Michael P. Nawakowski, commander of the 5,000-member Amphibious Group Two from Norfolk, Va.
