JACKSONVILLE Joint search for missing Marine
Federal, state and local authorities are searching for a Camp Lejeune Marine who has been missing since Aug. 3.
Robert Loughridge Jr., 33, was last seen near The Reserve Apartments off McDaniel Drive, according to Jacksonville police.
“We will be searching the wooded area around the Jacksonville Commons for the missing Marine,” said Deputy Police Chief Paul Spring. “We’re just trying to do anything we can.”
The search will be led by U.S. marshals and assisted by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department and the Jacksonville Police Department, Spring said.
Search-and-rescue teams from around the state and one from South Carolina will be taking part, along with canines.
“We just want people to understand that there is no threat in the area,” Spring said. “We are just searching and hope that with some luck we will find the missing Marine.”
