This may seem like a stupid question but it's been gnawing at me so I got to ask it. I know the Crucible is one of the toughest parts of boot camp, and is designed to test everything you've learned, but is it held during 2nd or 3rd phase? In all the tv shows I've seen about Marine Corps boot camp, it says the Crucible is held at the end of recruit training, which in my mind is phase 3. Then again, all the shows were filmed at Parris Island. But I've also heard that at MCRD San Diego during 2nd phase, they move recruits over to Edson Range at Camp Pendleton for weapons training, and field training. Is the Crucible held at Edson range as well during 2nd phase, or is it held later on during 3rd phase at MCRD? I'm confused.
