Former Marines rehab Huey helicopter
PERU, Ind. A group of Indiana helicopter enthusiasts is working to restore a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter to flying condition.
Former Marine John Walker, who's heading the project, says soldiers considered the distinctive roar of the Huey's blades the sound of safety.It's been years since a Huey helicopter has flown in Indiana, but Walker and his organization, American Huey 369, are looking to change that. For the last two years, they've been restoring a Huey in a hangar in downtown Peru.This weekend, the group is looking for support from area residents through a benefit and open house to raise money.
