Top Marines relieved of command
The Marine Corps Times

The commanding officer and sergeant major of Marine Wing Support Squadron 371 were relieved of their duties July 25 for "a loss of confidence in their leadership abilities," according to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing's spokesman.

Lt. Col. Phillip Woody and Sgt. Maj. Steven Garcia have been reassigned to administrative duties at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations against them, said 3rd MAW spokesman Maj. Jason Johnston. He said he could not cite the allegations.

Woody and Garcia were relieved by Col. Mark Cianciolo, commanding officer of Marine Air Control Group 38 in Miramar, Calif., which is temporarily the higher headquarters for the Yuma-based squadron. Marine Wing Support Group 37, which is normally the squadron's higher echelon, is deployed to Iraq.

Maj. Gary Roesti, formerly MWSS-371's executive officer, has assumed command of the squadron.
