When I applied for SS at age 62 a year and a half ago, the claims processor happened to be of Filipino descent. Me, the big BS'er started asking her questions and I found out she was born in Cebu, Philippines. I told her that I had a 2nd cousin who was killed in Cebu by a Japanese sniper. Well, long story short she asked me, "were you in the service?" I told her, "yes, 4 years 9 months." She said, "go home and get you DD-214 and come back." After returning another claims processor gave me an extra $15 per month because of military service. I told an army friend who already retired with 7 years service (three tours in NAM MACV) who then went back to SS with his DD-214 and got his increase too.

Maybe some of you Marines with 30 years of service can get some real money if you haven't already, at least enough to pay the cable guy! Good Luck!

I wouldn't take no for an answer with one call, I'd call at different times and places to talk to different SS reps till I was sure without a doubt. A personal visit would be good too besides the...

Do you realize this thread is five years old? I am not confident that you will get a reply right away.

Yeah, I noticed the thread was old, I was just curious about the claim.

Maybe someone has some more insight.

The information has been around for some time, supposedly the extra amount has already been added to your records.

when i applied for s/s, i was told i already had enough credits to determine my monthly amount and didn't need to enter any more information from 40+ years ago.
