Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can give me some more information on MSG duty. My husband has been talking to his monitor and it looks like he will be applying for it. I searched the web but there isn't too much info out there. Has anyone done MSG? Can anyone let me know what to exspect?

Thanks

Thank you,

That is like a foreign language to me but I'm sure my husband will know what it means. Do you happen to know what MSG duty is like?

Thank you,:)

I had seen that site earlier. I was wondering if anyone has been on MSG duty and knows what it is like first hand. The day to day stuff. Also I have 2 girls, 3 and 7 months old, I'd like to know what to exspect for them, or what we will be getting them into.

Please help if you've been!!!

As a fiance of a marine overseas currently ... you can't expect anything! I'm finishing law school so I luckily cannot be with him until this final year and the bar, but if I were with him right now, it'd be really hard. He's in one of the less desired posts and the worst in his region and there's just a lot to consider when planning on going. Many people go into it thinking they're going to get a great post and live in Europe, or Australia or somewhere really nice and they end up in Uzbekistan or Tanzania....places that aren't very fun. You have to think about what you are able to do in the less developed countries to pass your time, food what you will send over, restrictions on cars, what jobs are available, schools for your children, etc. I went to visit before the school year started to bring our dog and to get a feel of the country since I had planned on moving after the bar but have decided that I will wait for his first tour to be over and join him on his second tour because it's a country that offers little to me, so it's something you may want to consider. If he gets a bad place you can treat it as a deployment and wait it out or you can go. There's a lot of little things to consider when going overseas! But on the flip side, you can get a really great place as well, it's just luck of the draw and what's available at the time he finishes school.
