Defenshield MDFPs Continue to Save the Lives of US Marines in Iraq
Monday July 24, 7:00 am ET

AL-FALLUJAH, Iraq, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Since January 2005 over 300 Defenshield Mobile Defensive Fighting Positions (MDFPs) have been deployed in Iraq to protect US and Iraqi security forces during national elections and day-to-day security operations. Word has spread that these devices are saving lives and providing a valuable tactical advantage to Allied Forces. Recently, the first photographs from Iraq arrived, showing a DS-192 unit that protected a US Marine that was fired upon by insurgents in al-Fallujah, Iraq. The Marine is alive, unharmed and fired back at the attacker, effectively ending the confrontation. (Visit our website for photos at http://www.defenshield.com.)

"The Defenshield Mobile Fighting Positions are uniquely constructed to provide the protection Marines and Soldiers need in vulnerable locations, while providing excellent visibility of approaching gunmen. These Mobile Fighting Positions have already proven their ability to stop small arms fire while allowing personnel concealed behind them to engage enemy combatants, from a secure position, and eliminate the enemy threat. These items have saved the lives of several Marines that have been fired upon in this part of Iraq," said Assistant Chief of Staff of Logistics, D.C. Hales, referring to additional incidents of Defenshield units being effectively used in combat.

"Defenshield's mission is saving the lives of the men and women who fight for freedom everyday, away from their homes, family and friends. We provide the tools they need to return home safely," said Collins White, President of Defenshield. "Receiving pictures like this and the letters we get from thankful service men and women makes us all very proud to be serving them."

Defenshield units are providing a superior level of protection to US and Iraqi security forces. These partitions, similar to other Defenshield units deployed by the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and private sector infrastructure facilities provide the highest level of protection in a mobile, stand-alone device.

Equipment is available through the GSA Schedule to all federal agencies and state, local, and municipal law enforcement under the Justice Department 1122 program. Funding is available through the DHS Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP). The GSA Schedule also includes Defenshield's replacement glazing package for the Cadillac/Gage Peacekeeper armored vehicle in use by many law enforcement agencies.
