U.S. Marines Critically Injured In Crash
(CBS) DESERT CENTER, Calif. Six U.S. Marines were injured, one critically, in a traffic crash while training at the intersection of Court Street and Ironwood Drive near the Kaiser Mine, fire officials said.
The critically injured Marine was airlifted to an area hospital. Two suffered moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals.
The collision occurred just after 8 a.m. and involved two U.S. Marine Corps vehicles.
Up to 13 Marines could fit into the two vehicles in which they were training, according to Patrick Chandler of the Riverside County Fire Department.
