My father was in Da Nang, Vietnam with the 1st MAW around 69-70. Does he rate the RVN Civil action unit citation? According to the NAVMC 2922 document that list all unit citations it says that it was awarded to the 1st MAW and attached units from 1march1965 to 20nov1970.
I'm not sure if I'm reading it right or not. Can anyone shed some light and tell me if he does or doesn't.
Thanks:flag:

All depends if he stepped on that dirt or not.

I know he received the RVN Cross of Gallantry w/palm unit citation but am not sure if he rates the Civil action unit citation as well.

:usmc: May I ask, usmce-4, how did you get the NavMc info? Is there a web site for it?
I too received the one with palm and gold wrap ribbon, I'd like to be able to find out if my unit received this? He more than likely did. SF

As I recall - getting information changed, added, deleted on a DD-214 is like pulling teeth!! Don't know how it is now, but back then, you had to send in and have the original changed - and I had always dreaded the reality that it may - just may get lost in the mail system!! (Like the mailman in Florida years back that had 50,00 pieces of mail hid above the dropped ceiling in his house). It seemed that when they would make one change, then a new error would take its place - after two times I just called it a day - close enough for government work I guess. They did manage to finally get my name right!!
Maybe I was a little too hasty - if I would have sent it back a third time - I may have been a General by now - with a CMOH!! LOL!! . I was at Danang, 68, 69 and 70 also. Additional ribbons are nice but I always figured it just put more holes in your uniform to fret about. SF

Wind'nface, I got the info off of usmc.mil website. I typed in NAVMC 2922 and it lists all unit citations given since I believe ww1. It says it's updated quarterly and at the bottom it shows the unit citations given during the Vietnam war. It also gives all other units that have received awards. It's a little confusing so that's why I asked if he rates it or not because I'm not sure if I'm reading it right.
Hope it helps and if you find out anything let me know.

Well I'm trying to put a shadow box together for him so I'm trying to get all the information I can. Of course he doesn't remeber much so I've been doing a lot of research. But the link is on USMC.mil Once your there, type in NAVMC 2922 and a link should pop up taking you there.
Check it out. It's like 200 + pages and it says it's updated quarterly.

It's www.usmc.mil (http://www.usmc.mil)
On the top left side hit the drop down box and click on directives, Then type in navmc 2922 and it should come up saying 1 document found -Unit Awards Manuel.
Hope that helps.

So, getting back to my original question. If anyone would know if he rates the RVN Civil action unit citation as well?
Again, He served in Vietnam with the 1st MAW @ Da, Nang from 1969 - 1970.
Thanks

USMCE-4

Check on your fathers DD-214 if it says he rates it then he gets it, if it is not on his DD-214 then and NAVMC2922 says he rates it he needs to file an update for his DD-214 and the update will allow him to have it..

His dd 214 doesn't have it, but according to the NAVMC 2922 he should rate it. But having them correct a dd 214 I hear takes forever.
I'm just trying to get a shadow box together for him so that's why I've been looking into this.

I understand what your saying but i have been told if its not on his dd214 regardless if NAVMC 2922 says he rates it he is not authorized to have it unless you or him do a update of his 214..

The reason i am telling you this is i am going through the same process of updating my 214 also..
