New commander named for NC-based Marines
(Camp Lejeune, NC-AP) June 26, 2006 - A new commanding general for North Carolina-based Marines has been named.
The current commander has been made a deputy commandant of the Marine Corps.
Major General Keith Stadler was nominated last week by President Bush for promotion to lieutenant general. Stadler was assigned to command the Camp Lejeune-based 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
He's now commander of the Marines' Training and Education Command at Quantico, Virginia.
The current commander of the Camp Lejeune force is Lieutenant General James Amos. He's nominated for reappointment to his three-star rank and assigned to several posts at the Marines' headquarters in Washington.
