I was just wondering if any of y'all had this MOS, or had any experience with the DLIFLC? I've heard there can be a long wait before being able to even get there, and I just wanted to see if that's been some of your experiences. Thanks in advance.

Hey, just to let you know, 2791 is merely a skill designator MOS. It's not a specific job by any means. It means that if you have an MOS that would require knowing russian, such as a counterintelligence specialist (0211). And in order to become a CI specialist, you have to be a certain rank etc. in order to get it. Then based upon your score on the DLAB (Defense Language Aptitude Battery), they determine which languages you are qualified to learn. The highest I believe are Russian and Korean, I could be wrong. As for the DLIFLC, that's just where you go to learn the language if I'm correct. Feel free to correct me on any of this information but I believe it is all correct, I'll check up on it. good luck to you.

Was at DLIFLC, Defense Language Institute Foriegn Language Center from Jan 1986-Mar 1987 for Korean. Covey is right about the DLAB scores (although Russian is one tier down from Arabic/Chinese/Korean). There is a Marine Corps Admin Detachment there with about 60-80 Marines going through the school and a couple 01s to take care of you. It is not an MOS school (as in you don't have an MOS when you graduate, you merely have the language necessary for certain MOSs and will then need to go to that MOS's school, for me, a 2673 Cryptologic Linguist, that was Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, TX for another 4 months of training. If you have any more questions, let me know.
