Hi There,
I am doing some geneaology, and want to find out about my father's service. I have his dog tags and birthdate, but not much else. I would like to know what he did in the Marines and when he did it. Any suggestions about who to talk to?

You might apply for a DD 214, there's a link on the homepage here.
That will give you a lot of information.
I'm not sure, before you could get a copy of your Service Record Book (SRB).
If you able to get his SRB, it will give a lot information of his service.
You might even be able to order his Service Medals.
Maybe CAS3, might be able to give you more information.

Ricardo is right.
First, get a copy of his DD214 (military discharge papers).
That document will state dates of service, medals won, achievements and job.
From there, you can look up action/duty reports online.
Best of luck in your search.
