Subject: Memorial Day at The Wall

Greetings!

The annual Memorial Day Observance at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will take place on Monday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. Thousands of family members, veterans and friends are expected to join us for this free event that is open to the public.

Singer/songwriter Jimmy Fortune, formerly of The Statler Brothers, will sing his tribute to Vietnam veterans, "More Than a Name on The Wall." Several speakers will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam and other conflicts, including William P. Frank, a Vietnam veteran whose son recently served in Iraq, and Laura Palmer, a journalist who spent two years in Vietnam and who wrote the book, Shrapnel in the Heart.

A highlight of the proceedings will be the reading of four names added to The Wall just last week. The names will become "official" after they are read by Mark Rumley, brother of Capt. Robert Patrick Rumley Jr.

For more information about the ceremony, speakers and performers, visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund website at: http://www.vvmf.org/index.cfm?SectionID=477
