I've seen it as low as $2.97 in Covington and as high as $3.19 across from one of the Boeing space research center in Kent. This is in the burbs southeast of Seattle. Ugh.

In Houston, it's $2.93 (average) for 10% ethanol. With all of the refineries in the area, we should be paying the lowest in the country.

I know, not JAMarine, but he won't mind, heh...I've come to understand that diesel does get better gas mileage than unleaded gas. But I'm working on a story about motorcycles and the people who love them and I found out yesterday that motorcycles get really good gas mileage compared to cars...screw diesel, I'm gonna get me a chopper. I may even let my husband ride on it. Heh.

Oh, anyway, maybe I'll do a bit of research after I finish writing today. Find a confirmed answer if JAMarine doesn't get to it. :)

Yes comparable size diesel engines get much better mileage than gasoline. I have a Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 7.3 liter turbocharged diesel and I get around 15 to 17 mpg in town and 20-22 on the open road with NO load. I also have a Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 liter gasoline engine that gets about 15 mpg in town and 19-20 mpg on the highway. Guess which one I drive when fuel costs are close for diesel/gasoline.... The diesel. Right now becaue fuel is so much cheaper for "el cheapo" gas I drive the Cherokee.
