NASHVILLE, TN Tuesday May.2.2006 /netmusiccountdown.com/ -- This year's Suwannee River Jam was an experience of a lifetime for two fans: Sgt. Michael Wooten and Staff Sgt. James Morgan.

Wooten and Morgan, stationed out of Jacksonville, Florida, represented the U.S. Marines as sponsors of the three-day country music event.

Eddie Montgomery, one half of the feature act Montgomery Gentry, was aware that the marines were in the park and asked for an escort to meet them at their camp site.
Wooten and Morgan were awakened by a Suwannee Music Park staff member informing them that someone was on their way to meet them. Thinking it was a retired marine or veteran, both got up to greet their visitor. Soon a caravan of golf carts appeared with Montgomery leading the pack.

"Montgomery just kept thanking us over and over for the job we're doing as Marines," said Morgan.

Montgomery, who had toured with the USO in Iraq, told Wooten and Morgan, "Every American should have to go over and see the stuff I have seen and they would understand all that the US Forces do for our country."

Montgomery sent for his guitar and before they knew it, Wooten, Morgan and their families were getting a private performance from one of country music's hottest stars. Montgomery played "Speed" and a new song titled "Music Man." Neighboring campers began forming around the camp site to witness the event.

"The main thing that stands out about this visit from him is he was as awestruck about us as we were of him," Wooten said.

"His attitude towards us was we were the superstars and he was the fan," Morgan said. Morgan's wife, Mandy, said her husband was upset earlier in the evening about not getting a chance to get a picture of Montgomery Gentry. She was glad he was able to personally meet Montgomery but especially liked his statement to her, "Behind every good marine is a good woman."
