Former Marine dies 5 days after shooting

CHICAGO -- A Chicago man who served two tours in Iraq with the Marines died Saturday, five days after being struck by a bullet while sitting in his car on the Northwest Side, officials said.
Ricky Martinez, 22, was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m. at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he had been since the shooting, a Cook County medical examiner's spokesman said.
About 9 p.m. Monday, Martinez was with three friends in the 4700 block of West Addison Street after attending a Cubs game earlier in the day at Wrigley Field. Friends heard gunshots and discovered Martinez had been hit, the family member said.
The shooting remains under investigation, Police Officer John Mirabelli said.
