Looking for all Marines in 1st Radio Battalion hawaii 1978-1981.
Hello Rod,
I was at 1st Radio from 1977-78. At the time the CO was Capt. Galina, 1st Sgt. Henry, Top Brown and my closest friend was Jim Hensley. Your name is not familiar, but if you know the whereabouts of any of these names esp, Jim Hensley please let me know.
Best of luck in locating your comrades.

Hi Rod - it's Dean Larson. The friend from Pensacola, 1st Radio Bn, etc...
Stipe was our XO, and you told the Navy Capt Snipe was our XO for CompanyK, instead of Stipe. ha ha. Remember now?
I'd have to personally show you those pictures, as my daughter would say, you're showing a lot of "social finger" on every picture. :marine:
Does your memory clear a bit.

It's great to hear from you. All you had to do was say your name. You didn't have to remind me of how you are. Best Buds right.
I still don't remember what I did to Snipe. I now remember the name though.
Cathy remembers that you and your wife were there for our first date. She told me to tell you that I am happily married to that young chick we went skiing with.
I now have 4 kids. How about you?
I have since gone back to med school and now practice Family medicine in Show Low AZ. We live in Pinetop. I have partners and we also own an Urgent Center that we just opened last Feb.
I have a nephew that is at PI right now and he is graduating Aug. 25. we were going to go there but have decided not to. I think we're going to go to San Diego sea world. I havent had a real vacation for a long time and I'm ready.
My two oldest boys 17 and 16 are really wanting to be Marine fighter pilots. They are working towwards it so we'll see.
So what you doing in was it St. Louis? How long you been there?
been to IOWA lately? What about a farm, DO YOU HAVE ONE? I know if I had a farm and you had a farm...... oh never mind.
Have you heard anything from the other guys? I was wondering what LIPS is up to? And Stokes too.
Two Mays ago, Cathy and I went to Oahu with her brother and wife. He was in the Air Flunks as a dentist and we stayed at a beach house at Bellows. Also we stayed three nights at KMCAS at the guest motel. That place has really changed. But Pyramid Rock Beach was still awsome. the old barracks were still there. But the work site was gone. Rag Bag I dont think is there anymore.
Well my info is below. I have a meating to go to now.

Best Bud's!
Did you get either my e-mail or my text message to your phone?
When you available at night?
Haven't heard from Lips nor Stokes since they shipped out? Would be fun though.
I was laughing at your above message and I had to explain a few things to my wife. Like IOWA and the farm joke. I'm sure I've told her those things before. She gave me that OH MY look!

Hey Rod, This is Rod Genck. I was there July of 78 - July 81. Started in Morse code Plt then went to ECM Plt. I think it was 2nd Plt. I was there when the Gunny was there that was the BIG John Wayne fan. I went to Korea 79. When I got out I worked for Bendix Field in Shemya for NSA. Since then been in Arizona and went to school and now have an Urgent Care in ShowLow. My son graduated boot camp Sept 14 and is now at MCT. He then goes to Va. to MOS school. He's slated for Marine Pilot school in a new program they are running. He is living his dream. I've only been in contact with Dean Larson. He was in the DFer's Write Back. Rod

I am glad to hear from you. Sounds like your son is doing well. Congrats. I was in EM and had to watch Jeff Phipps trying to fix the DF machines. I worked in the vans. I was surprised when I saw another Rodney in the Bn. at that time. I remember a third named Radford (I think) he played guitar and got me doing it too. I used to drive a blue Camaro and once put a new engine in right there in the parking lot of the barracks. I now work in B Co. C&E shcools as a GS doing courseware for FROC. Drop a line.
