His Last Thank You

Wynton Hall tells NRO: "After Cap’s funeral, someone asked me why the man who helped win the Cold War would wade into the controversial War on Terror by writing a book about it.

"I then remembered the time Cap told me his favorite part of being secretary of Defense: visiting the troops. When he’d visit a ship he said he would make sure to go down to the engine rooms where no one ever went. 'They were always surprised and thankful someone had taken the time to notice them,' Cap said. 'They were grateful someone had remembered.' We feel the great untold story of this war has been the acts of heroism and hope the mainstream media refuses to report. But I now wonder whether Cap knew something I didn’t. I wonder whether somehow he knew this would be his last chance to thank the men and women he admired and loved so much."

— Wynton Hall co-wrote Home of the Brave: Honoring the Unsung Heroes in the War on Terror with the late Caspar Weinberger. The book is scheduled for release on May 15.
