Nevada Marines get warm welcome at Reno airport
April 12, 2006, 03:41 AM

It was a warm and surprising welcome for a dozen Marines who returned from Iraq Monday night.

The twelve United States Marines are based out of Northern Nevada to find something they didn't quite expect. A huge crowd of family, friends, and supporters greeted them at the Reno Tahoe International Airport.

The Marines were not expecting the big homecoming. It was a surprise organized by the local chapter of 'Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Most of the Marines spent the last year away from their loved ones and they say this was a great way to welcome them home to the Silver State.

Branden Cleveland, "It's great. We've been away... it's overwhelming."

Zach O'Keefe, "It's reassuring we've got people out there who are supportive of what we did, and everything."

Randolfo Contreras, welcomed his son home. "I'm overwhelmed. It's a relief. I'm very happy to have my son back."

At least 100 people gathered to welcome the Marines after their flight arrived.
