To all the friends of our community in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish and beyond: The family members of Lance Cpl. Matthew Ryan Barnes express our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love at the time of our great loss.
People's support in the hour of our greatest need was a great source of strength and comfort.
We would like to thank the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, the police departments of Monroe and West Monroe, the West Monroe and Ouachita Parish fire departments, the Mississippi State Police, the emergency workers, and all who had a part in escorting us to and from Jackson, Miss. We know that we and everyone who saw how Matthew was honored that night shall never forget that tribute.
Thank you to Rep. Mike Walsworth for his help and sincere concern. Special thanks to Kilpatrick Funeral Home and First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Thanks to all who attended the services that day. Thanks to our whole community at large.
Nothing could ever replace Matt, but it is a wonderful blessing of God to live in a community that extends its love and help at such a time. People's prayers and expressions of sympathy shall forever be remembered.
