God Saw Them Through

There is a new book out about the 2/8 in Iraq. It is written by Glenn Thomas and it is titled: God Saw Them Through.
From what I understand from the intro. there were 900 or so Marines that went over to Iraq with 2/8 and all of them came back. Not one Marine was killed or missing in action and every one of the forty wounded remained on active duty. Now, what are the chances of that ever happening? Amazing!

Haven't read the book, but it sounds like they had two things in their favor:

1. Able to "Duck Quickly" to avoid metal flying objects!

and

2. Alot of "Luck"!!

That is amazing!

Maybe not unusual though - in '67 we left P.I. in June, 51 in our Platoon. 2 went Air Wing, 49 went 0300. They told us that 30% would not make it thru the war. Not one name has ever appeared on the "Wall". I came close a couple of times, but cheated the Grim Reaper just like my comrades did. Lucky? You bet!!
