Today is the birthday of semperfidelis20 he would have been 19 today. He was a Poolee that shared the same goal and dream as you do. I believe that a Marine, Poolee or man is not dead until they are forgotten and thats not going to happen on my watch. Matt overcame many obsticles to achieve his goal as many of you have, just for the honor of earning the title of United States Marine. So why would this Poolee be remarkable enough that an old Marine SNCO would feel its important knowlege for those who now follow him in the quest to become a Marine? Instead of telling you I will simply provide you the tools to answering it yourselves. First I challenge you to search his user name for his posts and threads, then read what Poolees and Marines thoughts about him were. Hopefully you will be motivated as much by him as I was.

Matt will not be forgotten because of Marines like SSgt Nelson. As I posted when I read of this tragedy I know that I missed an opportunity to meet a true Marine in every sense of the word. As you think about what would have been know in your heart that Matt is standing on guard.

Happy Birthday Matt wherever you are

R.I.P Matt.

I've heard great things about you from SSgt J. Nelson, he misses you alot. I wish very much I had the opportunity to meet you, I'm very motivated by other's motivation, and it sounds like you were one full of it and certainly enough to go around!

Keep Heaven's Gates guarded for me brother, I'll stand by you someday soon.

My respects to this fine Poolee...

Semper Fi,
Young Marine PFC. Jonathan W. Gill

You (young Man) will never die because we will never forget. You will live forever.

You overcame but your life was cut way too short. Would you have claimed the Title? We say yes. Semper Fi young Man.

Matt, you were by far one of the most motivating and hardcharging Poolees I had ever met. Your contributions to this site, and moreso to people's lives echo on more than you'll ever know.

Walk your eternal post proud, brother.

Happy birthday Matt!

The world is a lesser place without you. You exemplified everything it means to be a Marine and for sure you would've distinguished. Not only that, you were also a great guy to talk to. You were by far the most motivated and dedicated poolee I ever met and they should all follow your example. Be at peace. :flag:

To all those who are remembering My Matt, Thank You. Every day it is difficult to keep going but I really have no other option. Yesterday was even worse. To have to go to a grave site to wish your son a happy birthday was unbearable. But then going with family and remembering the goofyness and oddness of my Matthew helped. Matthew could always bring a smile to your face. Whether you were laughing with him or at him, he brought joy. I can remember the day he was born as if it were yesterday. I picked the day and it has been a great day. It was and will be my favorite day of the year. I pray I never forget anything about Matt and I can't imagine I will. Matt was the type of kid to get under your skin. I know how important his friends were to him and now to me. Again I thank you for being there for Matthew.

It took me some time Ssgt but I finally made it back. It was so hard though because this little guy was my heart. Matt "Happy Birthday" and I know you're up there standing guard. You're still my " Sergeant Major." I miss you everyday and will never forget. Semper Fidelis.

Welcome home Corporol Morales you have been missed. I dont know if Matt told you what he told myself and several others before he passed. "If anything ever happens to me dont mourn my death but honor it." At the time I thought that this was a very strange thing for a 18 year to tell me, but in retrospect I now believe that it was his final request to me. And I will honor it until the day I join him on post. It is our duty as Marine NCO's to pass on our knowlege to those devil pups that have and will replace us on the line.

It truly is great to have you back Marine.
