Over the past three decades, I've watched FedEx grow from an idea to a global company of more than 200,000 people. It's been a source of great pride, and I do not believe I could have built FedEx without the skills I learned from a former employer - the United States Marine Corps. The Corps altered my life, and I have always been grateful to it.
Today marks the 227th birthday of the Corps. This is an important day each year when Marines, no matter where they are or what they are doing, take time out to celebrate. This year, I think it is especially valuable for all Americans to recognize both the day and the Marines' long tradition of leadership.
