I was with MWCS-38 from 1974 through JUL 1977. I worked in the test instrument repair shop. S/Sgt Jim Kelly. Cpl. Gonzalo Pena, Cpl Hartung are some of the names I remember. I believe the CO was Captain Weiss but time has altered that memory.

No where close to the right place or right time frame- but it is fantastic to see another "Muxter" on the forum. Don't run into many of them, especially these days.

I was with CSSD-14 from 94-96 and lived in that yellow castle. It was my favorite duty station and I missed it. Last Nov. I came back there and the front gate and the one right at the freeway were not there no more. All the farms in front are turned into big houses and shopping center and you barely can see the yellow castle from the main road.

Hey Everyone, I was stationed at El Toro, H&HS, and DetB Radio, MWCS-38. It was my first duty station. It was beautiful. I had a girlfriend that worked at the base dry cleaners. Id walk down to her work during lunch. Walk to the base gym, work. Everything was so green, the area (Tustin, Irvine, were really nice also).
It really made me sad to see pics on the internet...i hadnt seen since i was stationed there. It looks like a wasteland. weeds growing everywhere. and i just read that the base is/was contaminated. we lived there, pt'd there, hydrated with that water.

I wasn't with your unit, it is just good to see some other Marines from El Toro. I really miss the times there. I was with MWSG37, H&MS-37 (73/74 & 76/77). I worked in Hanger 96 at the Data Processing Center. It was a mobile union with the main component being directly on the flight line bahind the hanger. My barracks were located directly across the street from the Main PX.

A very long time ago, October of 1964, I served with H&MS-15, MAG-15 Group Supply in El Toro. Rather outside of the back gate, next to the stables. Moved to Iwakuni with the entire Group in July/August l966, Stayed there with many TAD's to Okinawa, RVN and all over Japan until Sept of l967. Then I came back to MCAF Tustin with MAG-56 till EAS in June of 1968. Absolutely loved So. Calif. Remember MAG-33 well. Nice to see wingers here!
