Bro, When I went to boot in the 80's I didn't bring crap. The Corp will give you everything you need when you check in. Also tell mom and pop's to send no food or gum or anything. Unless they have changed the rules, you will not like the things they do for that. Remember when you get there as Stsgt.Jones said to us. "Motivation leads to Graduation" OOH-RA!!!

A guy from Philly in my platoon brought 2 or 3 clothing bags of suits. He said his recruiter told him there was disco dancing at the night club on weekends.

He never made it to graduation, but the during the short time he was in boot he keep saying, "I'm gonna get that SOB when I get home!" lol

The answer to your question is no,no,no,no, and no in any order. Don't worry you will get issued only the best at boot camp. Sharpie for the marker probably Kiwi boot polish, Not sure on the rubber bands or deodorant but you will definitely get ACT mouthwash. Now that we have all the important questions answered does anyone have a stupid question.

Trust me, what you bring will either be thrown away within minutes of stepping on the island or sd, or be held in a paperbag stuffed on a shelf in a far away building til your last week... don't bring anything, everything you need will be issued to you (this ain't the army, we don't use shoe polish, it's all in the spit).

Let me think, you get issued paper, envelopes, book of stamps, marker, pen (do not lose your pen!!! you are only issued one, and you WILL need it, you won't be able to get another for a few weeks when you get to go to the px), no deodorant, tooth brush, tooth paste, mouthwash, sewing kit, boot bands,.... I went blank, but there is a load of stuff you will be issued. Hope I answered your question.
