If anyone could help me I would dearly appreciate it.

Right now as it stands I am a 19 year old highschool drop-out with a G.E.D.

I haven't contacted the recruiter lately because the last time he suggested i contact the Army recruiter... Yeah ...right, haven't talked to him since.

I've done limited research, but with an associates degree from a credible community college would I need to obtain a waiver to enlist still? Furthermore - should I transfer credits to a University and obtain a BA would I be eligible for Officer commission?

If you get 12 credits of college under your belt, you should be able to enlist just fine.

But I'd go back and talk to the recruiter again. Or to a different recruiter in your area. They have opened up more slots for GEDs lately, so you might not even need to.

gOpHeR,do some unlimited research and read the posts in the poolee and mentor posts. This information was posted a few weeks too a few months ago so the information should be fresh and not that hard to research.

Does this recruiter know more than we are being told about this situation? A recruiter normally doesn't turn a prospect away without going thru all of his options.

And no I was getting along with the recruiter fine until I mentioned the G.E.D.

Do you have any other need for a waiver, Criminal History, Drugs use (even if it was "experimental"), over weight, under weight, really low ASVAB scores?? Reason I ask is that just a GED would not have disqualified you from joining the Corps but the need for an additional waiver may have.

I have a juvenile first degree misdemeanor(15). I was on ritalin for ADHD from ages 6-13 been off since. 5'8" 187 but i could drop that easily. Anyway, I think I'll take MKocher's suggestion and get in touch with another post.

I would try and talk to another Recruiter see if anything has changed.. didnt mean for you to spill your history on the web.. that wasnt the intention.. was just trying to give you a list of what might have had to been waivered and that was why he told you to talk to the Army..

I apologize for dragging that out of you.. again wasnt my intention..
