Marines back from Iraq present two flags to mayor
2/14/2006

Local Marines who returned from Iraq presented two flags Monday to Mayor Byron W. Brown.

Four members of the Buffalo-based India Company of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Regiment, visited City Hall to present two flags that were flown at Marine positions in the cities of Haditha and Hit.

India Company was assigned to help get Hit, in the troubled Al Anbar province, under control. The unit detained many insurgents and uncovered bombs and weapons caches.

Capt. Kevin Klostermann, of Lancaster, presented the flags, which will be displayed in City Hall. Klostermann was joined by Gunnery Sgt. Jason Haney and Capt. Christopher Reynolds, both of whom served in Iraq.

Also attending Monday's ceremony was First Sgt. Benito Caraballo, who remained in Buffalo during the deployment to look after Marine families and injured Marines.
