Beaufort Marines return from Iraq

(Beaufort-AP) February 13, 2006 - About 165 Marines got a noisy welcome home Monday as they returned from a seven-month deployment to Iraq.

Marine Corps spokeswoman Captain Sarah Kansteiner called it "a joyous homecoming." Family and friends rushed to greet their loved ones and a Marine Corps band played in the background.

The group included members of Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 332, known as the Moonlighters, and members of the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31, known as the Stingers.

The fighter squadron's Hornet jets normally provide close air support and aerial reconnaissance for Marines and Army forces on the ground.

The logistics squadrons maintain, supply and work on weapons for the aviation units.
