What I can't remeber, jpr, is which one was supposed to smoke? Was it the CH-53A model, or the D. I think it was the A but I'm not sure. They had different "engines". I think I could still set the start switch on either one, though. Hell, I could still work on them if I had all the "T" tools! I think I remember most of that stuff. The CH-53E is a different story!

I did the hydraulic thing on CH-46's and CH-53's. Yep. Double MOS. Had all the licenses. Even did the Maintenance Control thing. Oooo. That was fun!

If I remember right it was the D that smoked. We used to call them the "sh**er. The most incredible thing I saw is when they were loaded into an Air Force plane headed for the gulf. You just don't realize how big those transports are until you see that. Our squadron did repairs on the 53's & 46's. The base also had huey's and cobra's, damn I love those cobra's!!

Don't forget the most important part of maintenance before an aircraft - especially on a "frog" or a "sh.tter" - takes off... PRAY!
