Old Marine command closing as part of restructuring

SAN DIEGO An aging Marine command will be closed tomorrow as part of a restructing effort to help save money and allow Marines to focus on their primary duties.
The Marine Corps Air Bases Western command will be consolidated into the newly formed Marine Corps Installations West command headquartered at Camp Pendleton.The new command will include bases in San Diego TwentyNine Palms, Barstow and Yuma, Arizona.Officials say similar restructuring in the past has saved 325 (m) million dollars and allowed more than three-thousand Marines to drop chores like mess hall duty and return to their primary jobs.
