It’s the middle of the night.
It’s dark, it’s cool and it’s raining as the bus pulls up.
After riding with their heads between their knees, the young men look up and see a sign above the large medal doors of a receiving building reading, “Through these portals pass prospects for America’s finest fighting force – United States Marines.”
“Sit up straight! Look straight ahead! Now get off my bus and line up outside on the yellow footprints! Move!” yells Staff Sgt. Yomen English after entering the bus.
