Ishpeming Marine Faces Multiple Surgeries
Corporal Neil Frustaglio of Ishpeming was due to get out of the Marines in three more months, but last week in Iraq, the humvee he was riding in detonated an improvised explosive device.
The explosion killed one of the Marines, and left the three others, including Frustaglio, with wounds so serious, their legs had to be amputated.
Frustaglio is now at a military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, undergoing several surgeries. His parents have joined him there.
He was well enough Friday to be presented with the Purple Heart.
He's a graduate of Westwood High School and joined the Marines immediately afterward.
